SCML - Arquivo Histórico

The aim of the online platform of the Historical Archive of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon (SCML) is to facilitate the remote search and consultation of historical documentation produced by the institution, as well as other archival collections held in the Archive’s custody.

Through this platform, users have the opportunity to explore not only archival descriptions but also digitised documents from selected series.

By navigating between web pages and using either simple text queries or advanced search options, the public can access hundreds of thousands of document descriptions that bear witness to the various areas of intervention of the Misericórdia of Lisbon throughout its centuries-long institutional history.

The archival information obtained via this platform may be used for research and publication purposes, provided that all legal requirements relating to access and communicability of archival documents are respected, and that the Historical Archive of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa is duly credited.
