SCML - Arquivo Histórico

The aim of the online platform of the Historical Archive of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) is to make it easier to search for and consult remotely the historical documentation produced by the institution, as well as other documentary fonds held in the Archive's custody.

Through this medium, users have the opportunity to explore not only the archival descriptions, but also the already digitised documents of some documentary series.

By navigating between web pages, searching by simple text or advanced search, we make available to the public hundreds of thousands of descriptions of documents that bear witness to the various areas of intervention of the Misericórdia of Lisbon throughout its multi-century institutional journey.

The archival information obtained through this platform can be used for research and publication purposes, provided that all legal requirements relating to access and communicability of archival documents are safeguarded, and provided that the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon Historical Archive is duly accredited.
