Órgão colegial que superentendia o funcionamento do Albergue Distrital da Mendicidade de Lisboa, a organização do orçamento, a administração dos fundos consignados à gestão do mesmo e a fiscalização da sua aplicação.
Mandates/sources of authority
Decreto-Lei n.º 30.389, de 20 de abril de 1940, que determinou a criação albergues, junto dos comandos distritais da Polícia de Segurança Pública, destinados a prevenir e reprimir a mendicidade nas ruas.
Decreto-Lei n.º 365, de 15 de Maio de 1976, que transferiu a gestão dos albergues distritais de mendicidade para o Ministério dos Assuntos Sociais, integrando-os no Instituto da Família e Ação Social, determinando a criação de comissões liquidatárias no sentido de uma reconversão dos referidos estabelecimentos.
